New Orleans, USA

Hurricane Katrina

Disaster Overview

The hurricane, which devastated New Orleans, remains the costliest natural disaster in recorded history, leaving entire communities uninhabitable. As Israeli citizens, we felt compelled to stand in solidarity with our closest ally, the United States. IFA’s team sought access to the restricted military zone in order to apply its expertise where it was most needed—to assist the victims in the most effective and immediate way possible.

Impact

IFA’s search and rescue teams scanned hundreds of homes in search of missing persons, survivors, and casualties. Meanwhile, our trauma specialists provided emotional support to first responders on the frontlines. In recognition of our efforts, we were honored with a medal from the Governor’s Office of Louisiana for our ‘Dedication, Courage, and Ability.’
