A catastrophic earthquake struck Haiti in 2010, leveling the capital city of Port-au-Prince and affecting millions. The devastation left over 200,000 dead, 300,000 injured, and 1.5 million people displaced. As one of the poorest countries in the world, Haiti lacked the infrastructure and resources to cope with such an immense disaster. The sheer scale of human suffering made it impossible for us to stand by. IFA deployed alongside the Israeli national delegation to deliver critical aid and support.
IFA’s medical personnel volunteered at the IDF’s field hospital, treating the wounded in the heart of the disaster zone. Our trauma specialists visited six orphanages, offering emotional support to children deeply affected by the catastrophe. We also adopted one orphanage housing 76 girls — rebuilding their home and committing to a year and a half of ongoing financial and medical support, helping restore stability and hope to their lives.
A catastrophic cyclone struck the Irrawaddy Delta, destroying millions of homes. With the country under military junta rule, foreign aid organizations were barred from entering, leading to a dramatic rise in the death toll.
In war-torn Kashmir, a devastating winter earthquake killed tens of thousands and displaced millions. IFA carried out a covert cross-border mission to deliver life-saving aid to civilians on both sides, despite political barriers.
The hurricane, which devastated New Orleans, remains the costliest natural disaster in recorded history, leaving entire communities uninhabitable. As Israeli citizens, we felt compelled to stand in solidarity with our closest ally, the United States.
