Disaster Overview

A powerful earthquake struck Java, Indonesia, causing nearly $3 billion in damage. The disaster resulted in 5,770 deaths, over 38,000 injuries, and left 700,000 people displaced. Despite the absence of diplomatic ties between Israel and Indonesia, we felt a moral obligation to act. Through a covert deployment, we reached thousands of vulnerable people, providing life-saving aid where others could not.

Impact

IFA’s trauma team treated 250 children per day, helping them cope with the psychological toll of the disaster. At the same time, we served 136,000 cooked meals, ensuring that displaced families had access to hot, nourishing food during their time of need.

A catastrophic earthquake struck Haiti in 2010, leveling the capital city of Port-au-Prince and affecting millions. The devastation left over 200,000 dead, 300,000 injured, and 1.5 million people displaced.

2008

A catastrophic cyclone struck the Irrawaddy Delta, destroying millions of homes. With the country under military junta rule, foreign aid organizations were barred from entering, leading to a dramatic rise in the death toll.

2005

In war-torn Kashmir, a devastating winter earthquake killed tens of thousands and displaced millions. IFA carried out a covert cross-border mission to deliver life-saving aid to civilians on both sides, despite political barriers.
